n-shake slice knots

Mark Powell (Durham University)

Abstract

The n trace of a knot is obtained from the 4-ball by attaching an n-framed 4-dimensional 2-handle along the knot. A knot is said to n-shake slice if a generator for the second homology of this 4-manifold can be represented by a locally flat embedded sphere. I will introduce this notion, compare it with usual slice knots, and describe my results.
